Raymond Herbert Stetson was educated at Oberlin College and Harvard University. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on "Motor Theory of Rhythm and Discreet Succession" in 1901 under the influence of Hugo Munsterberg (1863-1916). In 1909, Stetson returned to Oberlin to accept the headship of the new department of Psychology. Louis Dunton Hartson was born in Anamosa, Iowa, on November 24, 1885. He received a Ph. B. from Grinnell College in 1908, a Pd. M. from New York University in 1909, and a Ph. D from Clark University in 1911. After teaching psychology at Grinnell College from 1911 to 1923, he joined the Oberlin College Faculty.
